Superintendent Recruitment

The period of transition from one superintendent to another is a most challenging time for any board of education. Not only must the school board confront the uncertainties of selecting a new chief school officer, it must also continue to govern the school district. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity for the school board to examine district needs, to involve the greater school community, and to chart a future course.  Voorhees Associates views the recruitment and selection process as much more than merely "finding the next superintendent." We believe that the superintendent recruitment and selection process is but one component in the larger task of leadership transition. The time between resignation/retirementof the current superintendent and appointment of a successor presents opportunities for reflection, study,decision-making,and planning for the school district. Heidi Voorhees has extensive experience working with not-for-profit organizations.  She currently sits on the Boards of three not-for-profit corporations and is the founder and President of a fourth - an organization dedicated to developing baseball fields for differently-abled children.  Ms. Voorhees' unique perspective as a Board member, Foundation Board President, Capital Campaign Co-Chair and founder, combined with her executive recruitment experience, gives her an understanding of the challenges facing today's not-for-profit organizations.

City/County Attorney Recruitment

In addition to his experience in municipal government, Voorhees Associates Vice President Steve Veitch has served two prominent national law firms in various executive capacities.  In these roles he has been involved in recruitment of attorneys at middle and senior experience levels.  Other Voorhees Associates consultants have experience in recruitment and selection of legal talent for their municipal organizations.  Voorhees Associates Vice President Dr. Karl Nollenberger brings extensive experience at the county level. 

Electric Utility Management Recruitment

Voorhees Associates Vice President Doug Williams has over 35 years of experience in the management of electric utilities.  He served as President of the Illinois Municipal Utility Association and spearheaded a successful effort to enact a state statute which authorized creation of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency, a joint action agency that now provides wholesale electricity to 33 public power systems.  Steve Veitch also has electric utility management experience, as well as experience working with utilities through a utility management consulting firm.  He was a participant in the formation of a joint action agency established for the benefit of public power entities in Arizona.  Together, Doug and Steve offer a unique range of experience in electric utility management.
